Vivian Chan is a Vancouver and Berlin-based artist who focuses her practice on "performance craft" - a mixture between performance art, craft, and the communal creation of an artwork. Vivian received her BFA from Emily Carr University in Vancouver, Canada, and her MFA from Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, Sweden. Her work has been exhibited in various institutions throughout Canada, Europe and North Africa.

Through her performance craft installations, Vivian is interested in staging situations that encourage audience participation and dialogue. Her works become platforms to show how ideas and values can shift based on personal experiences, memories, culture, and socio-political situations.

Since 2018, she has been working as an art mediator and using participatory art as an educational tool to reach the public. She is interested in using interdisciplinary approaches in conceptualising and realising artistic programs and workshops. Her focus lies on the use of play as a form of knowledge transfer and exploring non-conventional, non-traditional approaches to learning and unlearning.
